A Holiday to See the Northern Lights
Filed in archive Destination: Europe by Melissa Petri on December 02, 2006

Borealis is like a light show across the sky. This natural phenomenon is due to charged particles from the sun that causes air molecules and atoms to light up whenever it gets caught in the Earth's magnetic field. The resulting bright glow in the sky can vary in intesity and color, which normally occurs during the darkest winter months.
Sometimes (if you are lucky), it can been seen from northern UK. However, Northern Lights are best observed in the Arctic Northern region. And one of the best regions to experience Northern Lights is from Lapland, located in Northern Europe and spans over Finland, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
FYI: Lapland is the common English spelling. In Finnish, it is called Lappi. In Norwegian, Sameland, and in Swedish Lappland.
"In Finnish Lapland, the number of auroral displays can be as high as 200 a year." With that high likelihood of sighting, Finland would be your best bet for experiencing the curtain of colors blazing across the sky. You can up the experience even more and join THE NORTHERN LIGHTS SNOWMOBILE SAFARI.
"3 days of snowmobile driving through unique nature, including a short husky safari. Half board accommodation in cottages and hotel."
OR, you can spend spend your NIGHT IN AN IGLOO UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS.
What are you waiting for? Seek the northern light now!
