Don't worry, I'm not being paid by greedy capitalists to write this, I just mean forget the set days and have more annual leave. I've read some complaints recently that there are too many Bank Holidays clustered between Easter and May, five out of the nine by the end of May, and then nothing for months.

As a freelance and self employed worker my work schedule is flexible but when I was an employee I must say that I would have preferred to ditch the prescribed Bank Holidays and choose when to have my own holidays.

I was in the Peak District one august bank holiday and it was mayhem, awful congestion on the roads, nowhere to park, pedestrians spilling onto the pavements in villages. I vowed never to drive around on Bank Holidays in future.
