The Purse Blog encourages shallow obsessing. Purseuing is just as obsessed in anything that can be carried on your shoulders. The Green Bag Blog thinks outside the bag. Many are showing off their bags on flickr's the bag blog pool.
The above are just a few examples which proves that bags has morphed into more than just a practical way to carry all your stuff around with you. Bags are fashion accessories.
Are you as obsessed? Are you interested in more than just getting your hands on the new designs of the House of Chanel, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton (among others)? Perhaps a look at the variety of designs and the bags which became popular through the years?
If so, a trip to Amsterdam may very well be worth it.
THe Tassen Museum Hendrikjein (in English, Museum of Bags and Purses) has re-opened. It showcases bags from the 16th century until the present day, including the creations from Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne, Yves Saint Laurent, Gianni Versace, Paul Smith, Alexander McQueen, Lulu Guinness and Tom Ford. Labels like Gucci, Hermès, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, MiuMiu, Chloé and Fendi are also part of the museum.
If you are really interested in the history of bags, I suggest that you book a guided tour. I have to warn you, though as it might feed your obsession even more.
