One of the main reasons I'd love to visit Miami is to admire all the Art Deco style buildings. Miami boasts a very high concentration of Art Deco hotels in South beach. This style was popular in the 1920s – 1930s, just at the time when Miami was being developed as a fashionable resort.

Some of the most notable hotels are the Astor Hotel, built in 1936 by the architect T Hunter Anderson, the Carlyle Hotel and the Beacon Hotel.
The Miami Design Preservation League offer 90 minute guided tours of Art Deco buildings every day except Monday or you can take a self guided audio tour.
Have you visited or stayed at any of the Art Deco Hotels in Miami?

I’ve stayed at the Hotel Nash in the Art Deco district of Miami. You are right, you can’t turn a corner without witnessing examples of the 1920′s – 1930′s building era. Very unique.
