The aurora borealis was said to have appeared in the Shiretoko night sky. It was never seen again until recently, when the Japanese found a way to bring the Northen Lights to Japan. Instead of traveling to Norway and Alaska, Japanese and tourists can admire the "Aurora Borealis" in Shiretoko Utoro Hot Spring, Hokkaido.
But instead of experiencing the authentic Northern Lights, at 8 pm every night, the vast ice-floe of Shiretoko serves as a backdrop to "20 minutes of laser and sound-filled fantasy." Tourists are entertained with man-made colorful Aurora lights as it swirls through the Shiretoko night sky accompanied by the crashing waves of the Okhotsk Sea.
Here is an excerpt from the 20 minutes of the Aurora Fantasy".
