British Columbia in the west of Canada looks like a fantastic holiday destination. Sounds like there's a lot more to it in addition to Vancouver and great skiing.

Here are some suggestions for getting off the beaten track. The BC Pocket Desert the only desert in Canada. The Vancouver and Southern Gulf Islands are destinations for wine or diving holidays. Nelson, located in lake and mountain scenery is known as one Best Little Arts Town.
The region is gearing up towards hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
You can find more inspiration about what to do and see there on the blog which features tips from the tourist board and travellers.
Do you have any recommendations for British Columbia?

I grew up in BC, a few hours east of Vancouver in a region called the Okanagan. There are some incredible vinyards, lakes and scenery through the entire area, with the main city being Kelowna. Travel through this area near the end of summer and you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the tip about the Okanagan region, it sounds lovely. My brother now lives in the Vancouver area, as he married a Canadian girl, so I hope to visit BC at some point.

As a Vancouverite, I am partial to this fantastic city. It's beautiful and offers so many diverse things to do. Ski in Whistler roughly an hour out of the city. Visit Stanley Park, China Town or Granville Island. Walk the seawall or visit the cobblestone streets of Gastown. Visit tourism Vancouver and see for yourself. Don't forget a ferry ride to beautiful Victoria! Enjoy!

Yes, I highly recommend a trip on the ferry to Victoria. We went a few weeks ago and had a great time. The area is so scenic. You can see a few pictures of the Victoria BC Harbor here: http://pixelpat.com/victoria-bc-harbor/
