
In a response to increased demand for direct departures from regional airports, two direct flights from the UK Midlands to Montego Bay, Jamaica will soon be of service.
Two new flights operated by Airtours and Thomsonfly will start operating starting summer this year and May next year.
Good new for those living in the Midlands, who boasts a big and vibrant Jamaican community, and for travelers who wants to sample Jamaica for their holiday.
Airtours direct service will start on the 18th of July, departing from the East Midlands Airport to Montego Bay. This direct flight will run for 8 weeks. Departure from the UK are scheduled Wednesdays 9:30 and returns (departs Montego Bay) Thursday 06:40,
Thomsonfly will start servicing from the 5th of May 2008 until October 2008. The weekly chartered flight departs from the Birmingham International Airport Mondays 9:45 and returns Tuesdays 6:25.
The new flights are supported by the Jamaica Tourist Board, who is keen on boosting infrastructure by 10,000 extra rooms by 2012.
