Directory of Hotels

Directory of Hotels is "an independent guide of hotels and travel information created by a team of people with a love for travel".

In this global hotel resource, you will be able to find a collection of different kinds of accommodations: boutique hotels, small hotels, resort hotels, luxury hotels, spa resorts, eco-resorts, inns, chateaus, bed and breakfast, and haciendas. Or so, they say.

The site is very user-friendly and is simply but tastefully designed. The pictures of each hotel are well-chosen.

I tested the function of the site by searching for hotels in places (several cities in the US, Europe and Asia) which I am very familiar with and imho...

• the number of hotels listed are very limited. In my search, some good hotels are missing from their list.


• the description/review of some hotels are not enough to give travelers a thorough picture. Information about each hotel has to be more comprehensive for the site to be of use to would-be travelers.


• the "current specials" category would have been great but it is (I think) impossible to have updated information for each hotel unless a code is written to pull in what each hotel has listed on their website.

On the other hand...

The Blog of Directory of Hotels is off to a good start. I also like the HOT LIST. Some of the hotels featured there would have been in my hot list, as well. I hope that the details provided for each and every hotel would be more like the details given for hotels listed under the hot list.

The site shows great promise. I hope that they continue to increase their directory (whether the hotel featured offers sponsorship or not!). If so, Directory of Hotels would definitely be of great use for travelers who would be planning their trip.
