I saw a piece in Vagabondish that made me think of some of my own experiences on the road. It was a look at some of the worst travel diseases – and none of them are Swine Flu.
Post author Turner Wright has a list of ten diseases you should keep in mind. Top of the list? Dysentry. And while that can kill you, the list actually goes down hill from there. He looks at malaria, typhoid, dengue fever, lyme disease, yellow fever, and hepatitus.
Of course, there’s also a host of self-inflicted diseases to consider, too. And Wright lumps them together under the category of sexually transmitted diseases.
The article is worth looking at.

I’ve been checking out some family vacation ideas (http://family.go.com/travel/vacations/best-vacations/). Fairly tame stuff really but I’d like to know whether kids are particularly susceptible to any of these nasty diseases.

One mistake I consistently made was not being more selective with the street food I ate. I think I still have some parasite in my body as a result. Here are some of my tips for avoiding a stomach virus while traveling: http://www.popwuping.com/travel/travel-tips/avoiding-a-stomach-virus-while-traveling.php
