Free entry to beautiful Scottish castles and other historic buildings this weekend, the 12 – 13 April 2008. You can visit all the wonderful properties owned by Historic Scotland including Edinburgh and Stirling castles.
So if you're in the mood for a day out exploring Scottish architecture, history and culture it wont' cost you a penny. This is a great offer as it can cost an average of £8 per adult to get into each site. If you choose several sites which are fairly close together you could easily fit in a few visits over the weekend. The Free Weekend page on the Historic Scotland site lists the properties by area. so it's easy to work an itinerary. Give yourself time for a lunch break and don't try to pack too much into one day. You want to have time to wander around the sites, not be madly dashing from one to another.
