Filed in archive Destination: UK + Ireland , Entertainment on April 28, 2008
If you are planning a visit to the UK and like visiting castles and historic sites a Great British Heritage Pass could be great value. The Great British Heritage Pass saves you cash and having to wait in line to purchase your entry ticket. The pass can only be purchased by overseas visitors to the UK. The pass gives you free entry to a mind boggling selection of over 580 attractions owned by the National Trust, Historic Scotland and English Heritage.

The price starts at £30 per adult or £69 per family (2 adults and up to 3 kids under 15 year) for a four day ticket up to £79 per adult or £169 per family for a thirty day pass. If you visit 6 properties during the period of a 4 day ticket you'll save money as the average adult entry per site is around £8.
Although you may be tempted to dash around as many properties as possible to get the most value from your pass I'd advise you to allow at least a couple of hours at each site and not to try to cram in too much each day. Many site have cafes and picnic benches and there can be gardens, play areas and country walks at some properties.
