I'm almost ready to be branded as a citizenM

I had some misgivings about the launch of the citizenM hotel chain prior to my stay at the first citizenM hotel at Amsterdam airport. However my scepticism has now largely dissipated.



I wasn't convinced that I liked the idea of the bathroom being an integral part of citizenM bedrooms. I don't have a problem with the shower being in the bedroom but I still don't like the idea of the toilet being in the room, even although it can be closed off by opaque circular glass doors.

I thought that it might not be a wise move for citizenM to enter content into the blog in case the blog came over as just a vehicle sell the brand but evidently now 80% of the content is submitted by users.

I was dubious if the citizenM staff could embody the core values of the brand but all the staff I spoke to during the launch were really enthusiastic, extrovert and appeared to take customer service seriously. The Operations Director told me that there is an incentive scheme in place whereby staff can earn up to 1000 euro to spend on personal development.

I also wondered if guest would want to be branded as citizenM's. However if you can find a comfortable room with all mod cons with attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere, a five minute walk from Amsterdam Airport, from 69 euros a night, (if you book well in advance for a stay during an off peak period) then I would definitely book at the citizenM if I were travelling alone. That would be probably if I was travelling with my husband as the toilet being in the room would be off putting with two citizens sharing a room.
