Multimedia Round Up: Week 1 -

The Wandalust Flickr Group is a thriving little photographic community - 52 members have contributed over 500 photographs from their native lands and travels, and they make beautiful browsing.

Each week, one recent image from the Wandalust Flickr Pool will appear in our Multimedia Round Up, devoted to the glorious excess that is travel photography.

This week, other Wandalust Flickr photographers visited:

  • The Great Barrier Reef in NZ, for a gorgeous underwater shot of a camoflauged octopus in slow persuit of a snack. (Contributor: DiveMonkey)

  • The tiny town of Yanacachi in Bolivia, circa 1997, for a retrospective look at a sepia drenched rural idyll. (Contributor: seriykotik1970)

  • The australian outback, for a stunning landscape of Ayers Rock drenched in sunset and moonlight. (Contributor: iPhotograph)

  • The beaches of Thailand, for a head-on shot of a flag festooned local fishing boat outside the Ark Bar. (Contributor: freckles_the_cat)



But we like to groove with the times, so starting this week there's also a Wandalust group at video repository YouTube.

Our video of the week:



A quick 20 second hotel room tour demonstrating that pretty much any view in Venice is a fabulous view. (Complete with singing!)

Also worth a gander:

  • The full-length Dispatches expose on shoddy and scary staffing and security practices at Ryanair. (Run time: 47:00)

  • Cute, cute polar bears at the St-Félicien'sZoo in Quebec. (Run time: 1:00)

  • A quick tour of a cool looking hotel atrium - bonus points for anyone who can identfy the hotel - I've no idea where it is. (Run time: 0:36)
