I read in a press release that The Hotel Windsor is offering rooms at 1883 prices, that's an amazing 50 Australian cents for a double room and 25 cents for a traditional single room, including breakfast. This price will be available for the first 25 people to book a room through the hotel's website from 9 am (Australian Eastern Summer time) on December 18, 2008. This rate is only available for a one night stay one taken by 18 January 2009 (not valid for stays on 31 December 2008).

I couldn't find any mention of the 25 and 50 cent offer on the hotel's site and I wouldn't rate your chances of managing the book at this rate very highly as I think the hotel website will be inundated. You might have more luck with the promotion offering 125 rooms a month at the rate of 125 Australian dollars a night. This offer runs until December 2008. That's still a pretty low rate for a hotel which has been listed several times in the best Australia hotel categories in the Condé Nast Traveller and Luxury Travel Gold Lists.
