Second Life Travel is Now Possible

Second Life 101

Second Life is a downloadable program which allows users to interact online with other uses. Imagine yourself as a moving avatar (much like the characters in SIMS), existing in the kind of world and identity which you have created. You will be able to socialize with other "residents", buy property and avail of existing services, among others. Heck, you can even earn with your Linden Dollars (L$), online and offline.

Second Life and Travel

In the place were people can create their dream world, in-world businesses are present. Lately, however, more and more businesses and organizations from the real world have also gone inside second life.

So, should you be interested in traveling to Maldives and you need a visa, you need not worry. Maldives actually opened an embassy in Second Life's Dimplomacy Island. You can go there and talk with the ambassador, get a visa or discuss about other issues. Sweden followed Maldives in early 2007 when they opened the Swedish Embassy to promote Sweden's image and culture where they provide REAL and Virtual services. Estonia, Malta, Macedonia and the Philippines are also set on opening virtual embassies in Second Life.

And now… The Netherlands Board of Tourism and Conventions has officially launched the world's first national tourism board in Second Life. Check it out at Holland Second Life.

Second Life is THE virtual world that lets residents walks the line between virtual reality and real life. Some find it interesting; others think it's scary. What about you? Would you live a Second Life?
