Chasing storms, is this the ultimate adventure trip in nature or more of a folly. Well there must be some devotees as there are several firms offering storm chasing tours,. Storm Chasing,Silver Lining Tours and Tempest Tours were the first three to appear in my google search.

The tours are sold as being a mixture of education and adventure. You travel around in specially adapted SUVs crammed with weather forecasting gear and could end up driving up to 500 miles to witness the "best" storm". You should definitely see some super cell type thunderstorms with a 20 – 35% chance of witnessing a tornado. I wonder if it could be dangerous if you got too close to a storm or tornado?
I had a look at prices on Storm Chasing and it costs around $2500 for a six day trip for transportation and accommodation (based on two sharing a room), you have to pay for your food and meals on top on this.
Does storm chasing appeal to you? Well for some the fun may be in the pursuit but I'd don't fancy all that driving around. I'd rather be "energised" in Star Trek fashion to and from the spot to take some photos and video footage.

I am a guide for storm chasing tours through http://stormchaseguide.com, and I can attest to the fact it is an addicting adventure. All of my customers last year came away with multiple tornadoes.
