The lamentable lack of UK travel blogs

Why are there so few high profile Travel blogs authored by UK bloggers? As I scroll down the page on Travel Alltop
only two of the first fifteen travel blogs listed are written by UK bloggers, my own Europe a la Carte blog at number three on the listing and Travel Rants, the independent UK travel consumer blog at number five. There is one other European travel blogger, at number six the Dutch Happy Hotelier. The other twelve blogs are American.
When I search for "UK travel blogs" on Google, Wandalust appears at the top of the list. Next is a site for creating travel blogs and in third place is Alexs Travel blog, then a travel marketing site, the Guardian travel blog, followed by Travel Rants and the Europe a la Carte blog.
I'm waiting for you to prove me wrong by leaving links to loads of travel blogs written by UK bloggers in the comments.

Merill, maybe there are more readers interested in marketing and tech than in travel? Or it could be that these interested in reading about marketing and tech news are more into reading blogs than those into travel?
I still think there are misconceptions about travel blogs in the UK with many potential readers believing that travel blogs are merely personal dairies of travellers rather than more akin to online travel magazines covering a variety of travel related topics.

Hi Karen.
Great job your doing here. I do think there is a lack of UK travel blogs, not sure why, maybe Brits aren't interested in writing about Travel, than our US counterparts.

Darren, I can't figure out why there are so few UK based travel blogs either. I'm sure that readers like reading about travel but why bloggers aren't producing more material?

Hm Karen,
I noted Wandalust itself is also on Travel Alltop.
And there are more UK travel Blogs....I will check my list and come back to you.

Happy Hotelier, I did see Wandalust on Travel Alltop but not in the top 15. I just looked at the first 15 blog featured on Travel Alltop, as I'm not sure how many readers will look through all the 60+ blogs.
Would be interesting to hear how many UK blog there are in total on the site.
