Wroclaw on the Odra River in Southern Poland, is becoming a growing tourist attraction in Central Europe.

Wroclaw is located in the region of Silesia, not far from Poland's Czech border. Over the centuries the city has been part of Bohemia, Austria, Prussia, Germany, and (of course) Poland. Its name has been spelled Wrezlaw, Prezla and Breslaw over the year. It is pronounced VROTZ-waf.The city dates back to at least the 10th Century and is graced with Gothic cathedrals and dotted with Soviet-era apartment buildings.

Be sure and visit the rynek – the city's main market square. The town hall there was built in the 14th Century. St. Elizabeth's Church in the square was also built in the 14th Century. Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island) is the oldest part of the city. The city also has a couple of universities.

Lufthansa, United and LOT Polish Airways fly into Wroclaw from New York, with a layover either in Frankfurt or Munich.
