Whether you are a chocolate gourmet or an amateur chocolate foodie, these destinations will answer your seemingly childish wish to see how it is to be in Charlie's shoes, minus Willy Wonka and the oompa loompas:

The House of Anvers in Tasmania. They produce hand-made chocolate using fresh Tasmanian cream and butter. The House of Anvers is in Wyndarra Lodge set in 1.12 hectares of tree gardens. Apart from the chocolate factory, they also have a museum and coffee shop where you can indulge in everything that the House of Anvers has produced.

Take the chocolate train in Switzerland to the Cailler-Nestlé chocolate factory at Broc. An added bonus is the short stop in Gruyères for cheese.

Museum of Cocoa and Chocolate in Belgium for the history of chocolate's arrival in Europe, the production process and even more olfactory gustatory delights.

Imhoff Chocolate Museum in Cologne, Germany. You can take the tour/train from the famous Dom to the chocolate factory.
