The Christmas season is well underway. People are starting to decorate their homes with Christmas kitsch, the first Advent candle will be lit on Sunday, people are now starting to look for gifts for loved ones, and Christmas markets are popping up all over.
My sister and I traditionally visit at least one Christmas market per week. We've been religiously doing it for the past 3 years, because going to them makes one feel jolly, like literally feel the spirit of Christmas. This year, we've set our sites on going a bit farther, and trying out Vanocni Trh, Christmas market in Prague.
Vanocni Trhy runs from the 1st of December until the New Year. It can be found at the Old Town Square (Staromestske Square) which is also known for it's notable sights, such as the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn, the Old Town Hall Tower and Astronomical Clock and the St. Nicholas Church. Smaller markets are also found at the Wenceslas Square, Havelske Trziste and Namesti Republiky.
Aside from shopping for the normal Christmas market goodies, other entertainment options can be found such as the mini petting zoo (sheep, goats & lama), local and international choirs sing carols and school children from schools around the Czech Republic dance and sing for the crowd.
