Verbier

has been godmother of a lift since 1998. And now, a new chairlift is being named after singer/songwriter James Blunt. Apparently, James Blunt is planning to take his £5 million earnings from his debut album and move to Verbier to escape from UK taxes.VERBIER is a Swiss Ski Resort. Yup, it's in Switzerland but if you go around Verbier, you'd think that they moved the mountains and the snow to your own neighborhood. Apart from the fact that English -- and not Swiss, German nor French -- seems to be the first language, the resort is just crawling with English people who are either skiing or partying. The fact that many chalets in the area are English-owned is not surprising.
Okay, so James Blunt's move is due to one reason but what else is there that attracts visitors to Verbier?
#1 - It's at the centre of the Four Valleys ski area. With 410km of pistes and 94 lifts, Four Valleys is huge. Whatever your ski level is, you'll definitely find a run that is perfect for you.
#2 - It's situated on the sunny side of the Rhone valley so it's great for sunbathing. On a good day, you will actually see skiers strip down to their bikini top and ski pants.
#3 - An excellent snowpark where you can go freeriding.
#4 - Daredevils would also find Mont Fort in Verbier the best run to challenge their lust for adventure.
#5 - If you are one of those who half-ski, half-party then Verbier is it for you. Verbier's Nightlife is as famous as its skiing.
