Destination: Asia & the Pacific
by Melissa Petri on December 13, 2007

Despite it's tumultuous past, Vietnam is emerging as one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Apart from that, it is also home to two World Heritage sites (Halong Bay and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park) and six World biosphere Reserves. And just recently, Vietnam was named as the "Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year" by the International Association of Golf Travel Operators.
This accolade was voted upon by members of the International Golf Travel Writers Association. The criteria are as follows:
• To what extent the destination is "undiscovered"
• Qualities that make it an interesting golf destination
• Attractiveness of the region and courses
• Course quality and accessibility
• Standard of accommodation
• Friendliness of the staff
• Value for the money
• Speed of play
So if you're bored from the courses that you've been visiting, hop in the next plane and see for yourself golf's undiscovered gem.
