In the movie Bridges of Madison County, which starred clint eastwood and Meryl Streep, Eastwood's character traveled to Iowa's Madison County to photograph the seven covered bridges for the National Geographic.
This romantic classic have led many tourists to Iowa. And just like all the others who have traveled to Winterset after having seen the movie, YOU might also be interested in seeing the beautiful bridges and all the other things that this county has to offer.
Fall is the perfect time to do just that. Apart from seeing the bridges and the wonderful Autumn foliage that surrounds the country, you will also be on time to attend the Covered Bridge Festival which will be held on October 14-15.
"The festival features artisans demonstrating the old-fashioned ways, booths with delightful crafts and delectable foods, nonstop music and entertainment, a quilt show, antique vehicle parade, guided bus tours of the covered bridges and so much more!"
In addition, while you are in Winterset, you can also visit the birthplace of the hollywood legend, John Wayne.
EXTRA: You can check Iowa's full range of accommodations here.
Don your rose-tinted glasses and head for Madison County this Fall!
