Web Round Up: Take Flight
Filed in archive Round Ups on May 31, 2006

Considering that I have about a year's worth of travel blogging to catch up on, Wednesdays seem like as good a day as any to dive into the terse but topical world of Rounds Ups. This will no doubt be something of a moveable feast, but this week's flights of fancy include:
- Travel packing was revolutionised in my absence with the fantastic Tubism Travel Case that lets you roll up flat clothing and stick it in an extraordinarily chic unisex leather and stainless steel carryon tube. Spendy but fabulous. [Via: Areyouabeauty.com]
- Hip hip hotels connoisseur Herbert Ypma picks his Top Ten Parisian hotels for The Times, generating a rather scrumptious and authoritative list. [Via: Gridskipper]
- Southwest Airlines has launched Nuts, one of the best corporate blogs I've encountered. Check out the staffer snapshot of the mannequins wearing 30 years of Southwest uniforms at corporate headquarters. Go gogo boots![Via: BoardinGlobe via Les Explorers]
- For those who (unlike me) think the Da Vinci Code is the holy grail of historical fiction, Flyaway has an excellent selection of current tours, package holidays and guide books based around the book, film and no doubt soon to to be announced musical of the Phenomena That Will Not Die.
- Last but certainly not least, the hostelry doyennes at Hotel Chatter scooped a terrifying video tour of true Hotel Room Hell in Delhi. No windows (or water), but plenty of mouldy newspaper. Ewwwww.
Notes to self: Head for Paris. Take a Da Vinci Tour. Pack beautifully. Avoid Delhi.

That video is th the wrost "hotel" "room" I've ever seen! That better have been cheap. Although I'm pretty sure my best friend has that same window in his dorm. :)

Guys,
I've been in India for quite some time and honestly I have seen MUCH WORSE. The room is no beauty but it's at least clean and you probably pay less than $3 a night. When on a shoestring budget I would consider it.

Ok, but even on a shoestring budget, my standards are going to include "no mould." I have no problem with Moriccan toilets or bathing out of a pitcher, but mold is really... no. Just no :)
