Why fly to Ireland from the UK when you can buy a Sail Rail ticket for only £54 return from London to Dublin?
When you fly from the UK to Ireland you have all these pesky additional charges such as tax, hold luggage, fuel surcharges and you have to get out to the airport well in advance to get through security. You can only take liquids in 100 ml containers. You arrive at an airport out of town, so you still have to get into the city centre. You'll probably have to book months in advance and travel off peak to get the lowest fares.
With sail Rail you take the train and ferry, no taxes to pay, you can take as much luggage including liquids as you like. You only have to arrive a few minutes before you train departs and you're taken right into the city centre. The low rail sail fares are available at short notice for travel in peak periods. I doubt if you could find a £54 return flight to Dublin in the Summer. Of course there is the additional feel good factor of being a greener traveller.
I'd say it's a no brainer, why fly when you can Sail Rail to Ireland?
