Ryanair, the Irish low cost carrier is considering breaking into the transatlantic market starting with flights from London, Glasgow Prestwick and Birmingham to New York. Ryanair has been talking about this for some time, with fares as low as £6 being mentioned. With the recent increases in the price of oil I think that the fares may have to be somewhat higher. However the demise of carriers such as Slverjet and Zoom is perceived as providing an opportunity to enter the transatlantic market.
I believe that it will be a good thing for passengers if there is more competition on North American routes and that whilst there may be some bargain basement tickets, I don't think we can expect them to be widely available.

Hi Karen!
I came across this site courtesy of “My Marrakesh” – it’s great. The one time I’ve flown Ryan Air was from France to Ireland – I enjoyed it, had a fabulous sandwich during my short journey. Good to know that they’re now considering flights to/from NYC.
Best,
Suz (a.k.a. Lil’ Boozie)
